So first, what is a bowrider? As the name suggests, a bowrider boat offers space for passengers to ride at the bow, or front, of the vessel. There’s a sunken seating area that’s comfortable and roomy enough for several people to relax in so they can feel the spray on their face as the boat cruises across the water. The helm and controls are behind the bow seating area. 

Bowriders also offer seating at the rear of the boat, and they’re generally open to the air without a canopy or cabin. They are typically no longer than 35’ and they have either a sterndrive or an outboard motor.
 

Uses

Most people use bowriders for simple pleasure cruises across the lake during a sunny afternoon. Since these boats aren’t very large and they don’t offer any shelter, they’re not good for ocean boating or boating in rough weather.

Another way that bowriders are used is for towing watersports participants such as wakeboarders and water skiers. These bowrider boats typically have more powerful rear-facing engines to generate wakes.
